Admissions Process
Thank you for considering Oakridge Montessori School for your child’s education. The admissions process at Oakridge Montessori School is designed to give parents an opportunity to learn about our school, its philosophy and policies, and to meet our faculty. It also gives us an opportunity to assess each child’s situation and determine whether we are able to meet the needs and expectations of the parents. Our goal is to enroll families who will both benefit from and contribute to the school community.
Children may be accepted for admission as early as 2 years and 10 months old.
All children must be able to:
Use the washroom independently
Attend class independently
Function safely within the classroom environment
How to Apply
If you would like to enroll your child, please follow the following steps:
Step 1: Submit an Online Application
Submit an online application, complete with recent photo of your child and family and a non-refundable $25 processing fee sent via e-transfer.
Step 2: Schedule a School Tour
Once an application is received, you will receive an email to schedule a tour of the school.
Step 3: Attend an Interview
You will also be invited to have an interview with the administration team to discuss school policies, expectations and philosophies. Your child may also complete an assessment with the Director of Education.
Our major intake of new students happens at the start of each school year in September for our preschool programs. Offers of admission will be made by mid February; our aim is to achieve a balanced class in terms of age and gender. Families may apply throughout the year and have their child placed in the Wait Pool. Occasionally, a space becomes available during the school year. This space will be offered to a family who has completed an application and is on our Wait Pool. Special consideration will be given to siblings of current and/or graduated students of Oakridge Montessori School.
To apply for Kindergarten to Grade 3, please call or email us with your enquiry to be placed in our Wait Pool. An online application should be submitted as well. When all registrations for current students have been returned, the office will know how many openings the various grades will have for the following year. The Waiting Pools are not carried over from year to year; therefore, parents need to call each year to confirm your continued interest.
If there’s an opening, families will be contacted for an interview and student assessment. Bring your child’s most recent report cards. All information will be reviewed, and parents will be notified as to the status for their child. Once an offer is made, families have five business day to accept and submit all required documents in the registration package, including the non-refundable registration deposit. Once the registration package is returned, a uniform fitting appointment can be scheduled.
